Ian Byrne
Director, Standard & Poor's
Ian Byrne is the director of Standard & Poor's Evaluation Services in Europe, a role which involves him in situations where financial institutions, corporates or projects are looking at corporate actions (such as M&A, share buybacks and disposals) or contemplating other financial or strategic changes.� He further runs a revolving series of internal business reviews focused on continuous improvement and evolution.� Previously he was the global business development director of the governance services group of Standard and Poor's.� Ian has spoken and written on the importance of ratings in M&A, and corporate governance in Europe, Asia and the Americas.�
Prior to this role Ian was business development director at Standard & Poor's DRI an economic analysis and information company, with special responsibility for major global relationships.� Since joining the Standard & Poor's group in 1991, Ian had served in several managerial roles, including managing a global technology sales and support group.
Ian had previously held senior positions in economic consultancy across Europe, and as a quantitative analyst, focusing on economic forecasting and model building in banking and industry.
Ian holds a B.A. (Econ) from the University of York and a MSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics.�
